If you're shopping for a manufactured or modular home in Wilkesboro, North Wilkesboro, Ronda or anywhere in Wilkes County, North Carolina, here's a fact many buyers don't realize: the homes Meadow View Homes sells are built right here in North Carolina. Meadow View Homes, based in Mount Airy, works with three Champion Homes plants in the state. This post explains who Champion is, where those plants are, and which home series come from each, along with the prices Meadow View Homes currently lists.
Champion Home Builders is one of the long-running names in factory-built housing. According to the North Carolina Department of Commerce, Champion was founded in 1953, builds manufactured and modular homes, park model units and modular buildings, and its parent company operates dozens of manufacturing facilities across North America (NC Commerce).
For Wilkes County buyers, what matters most is that the homes Meadow View Homes carries come from Champion's North Carolina plants in Laurinburg, Pembroke and Lillington.
Laurinburg is in Scotland County, in the southern part of the state. In May 2022, the state announced that Champion would invest $18.7 million to acquire and develop a manufacturing campus there, taking over a plant from a family builder that was leaving the industry. Champion's CEO thanked that family for trusting the company to continue the business they started in 1983 (NC Commerce).
The Laurinburg series includes the two homes Meadow View Homes features first on its site:
Cameron I 3252-01 — $124K–$137K. Three bedrooms, two baths, 1,577 sq ft, 32' x 52'. See the Cameron I.
Cameron III 3260-02 — $139K–$153K. Three bedrooms, two baths, 1,820 sq ft, 32' x 60'. See the Cameron III.
Pembroke is in Robeson County. Local news coverage in 2022 reported that Champion planned to invest up to $13.2 million in a production site in Pembroke, in a building once used by another home manufacturer (The Robesonian).
From the Pembroke plant, Meadow View Homes features the PRIME 32 x 60 3260H32P03 — $94K–$104K. Three bedrooms, two baths, 1,819 sq ft. It's the lowest-priced of the featured multi-section homes on the site. See the PRIME 3260H32P03.
Lillington is in Harnett County, south of Raleigh. Federal EPA records list Champion's Lillington facility under manufactured home manufacturing. Meadow View Homes features several Lillington-built homes:
If your family needs four bedrooms, the Ironclad 3260-05 and 2860-12 are the two featured plans that offer them.
Meadow View Homes explains that its homes are built in a controlled environment, with pre-wired electrical, rough plumbing and precision carpentry, and that up to 80% of the construction is already complete when the home arrives on-site. For a Wilkes County build, where weather and travel time can slow down a traditional job site, having most of the work done indoors at the plant is a real advantage.
There's another practical point. Meadow View Homes says its home prices include delivery and setup. That's worth keeping in mind when you compare quotes, because it means the price you see covers getting the home from the Champion plant to your land and set up. Ask the team exactly what's included for your site, since site work like a driveway, foundation or utilities can vary from one Wilkes County property to the next.
Which plant builds this model? Meadow View Homes groups its floor plans by Champion plant, so ask which one built the home you're looking at.
Is it manufactured or modular? Champion builds both, and the difference can affect foundations, financing and local permits. Ask before you choose.
How does this floor plan fit my land? Wilkes County lots range from in-town parcels to steep mountain acreage, so measure your site before falling for a 32-foot-wide plan.
How will I pay for it? Start with the financing page.
